Concern over code rewrite

Austin’s new land development code is geared to turn Austin into a multi-family community and that’s not sitting well with some residents.

It’s safe to say virtually no one knows more about planning Austin than Jim Duncan who’s the vice-chair of the Zoning and Platting Commission. He says the new rewrite seeks to eliminate single-family homes in favor of multiple units on every lot.

Duncan says the new rewrite will do more to profit developers than actually solve Austin’s affordability and congestion crises.
