Concordia University Texas will temporarily waive the ACT or SAT college entrance exam test requirement for admission of incoming classes beginning Fall 2020 through Fall 2021.
Nationally, exam administrators ACT and the College Board (SAT) have postponed or rescheduled upcoming testing dates in response to concerns about the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19). The closing of schools and suspension of study programs that prepare high school juniors and seniors for testing mean that they may not have the opportunity to take a test as planned.
“In order to care for students and families for whom this decision is causing great stress, we have decided to waive the test requirement,” explains Dr. Kristi Kirk, the university’s provost and executive vice president.
In addition, the College of Nursing has made the decision to temporarily waive the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) for incoming nursing students applying for Summer 2020 and Fall 2020.
“Our mission has always been to make Concordia University Texas as accessible as possible to students,” adds Chief Enrollment Officer Jennielle Strother. “Based on our experience, a student’s success correlates more directly to their effort and the support they receive, rather than their score on a standardized test.”
