Travis County’s budget that was approved this week is $1.2 billion dollars which is eleven percent higher than last years. Travis County Commissioner Gerald Daugherty says though the 8 percent tax hike means a higher tax bill than normal, it’s a difference of about $46 dollars a year from the usual 3.8 percent rollback rate.
Daugherty says Jails, law enforcement, and the court system take up about half of the county’s budget.
