Dedicated police department for Round Rock SD stays controversial

A dedicated police department in the Round Rock school district remains controversial

Six months ago, a task force was formed that is looking at the viability of a district police department.  But some task force members continue to express concern about the possibility that a police department would unfairly target non-white students.  District spokesperson Jenny Lacoste Caputo tells CBS Austin a dedicated police force could usher in a new era of diversity training.  She also said a police force is vital for keeping up with the district’s growth.

Recommendations will be submitted to the school board by February.
