4. ADLER PROPOSES LIMITED CAMPING BANS
A big change has been proposed by Austin Mayor Steve Adler. After staunchly defending the council’s decision this summer to allow the homeless the camp in public, Adler is now proposing reinstating partial camping bans. He says anywhere within 15-feet of a door of a home or business would be included.
“And that would apply on all streets,” he says. “And streets that are really intense retail streets, like Second Street, are going to have places that you really can’t be. But you can be a half a block away.”
The ban would apply to any place deemed a safety risk to the public or the person camping. Sidewalks and walkways would also be banned.

Williamson County Sheriff Robert Chody has issued a warning after receiving three calls for service within a 30-minute span about a person posing as a deputy trying to pull people over in Liberty Hill. Chody describes the vehicle as a blue-colored SUV with red and green overhead lights. If you are ever in doubt about a vehicle attempting to pull you over, Chody says you should activate your flashers, pull over when safe to do so, and immediately dial 9-1-1.
