No injuries were reported following a big fire on Friday night in downtown austin involving nearly two-dozen dockless scooters.
In a widely circulated social media post, a pickup truck can be seen with its bed and an attached trailer fully engulfed in flames near Brazos and Cesar Chavez. Inside the trailer were 23 dockless scooters.
The driver of the truck told officials the fire erupted as the scooters were plugged into charging stations. It’s believed an electrical short from a faulty generator was to blame.
All 23 scooters are said to be completely destroyed, and the truck bed has also been ruled as a total loss.
