1. ABBOTT ISSUES EXECUTIVE ORDERS ON GUN VIOLENCE
In an effort help law enforcement better identify suspicious activity that could lead to mass shootings, Governor Abbott issued 8 executive orders Thursday.
The goal is to help law enforcement and the public better identify situations that need to be relayed to the Texas Suspicious Activity Reporting Network.
“We need to take whatever action needs to be taken to make sure that our state is going to be safe for all members of our community,” Abbott said.
Other orders call for the creation of multi-disciplinary threat assessment teams linking information between State, local and federal law enforcement and mental health professionals.
