East Austinites are afraid and angry as Austin ISD considers closing 12 schools in an effort to reduce a 65-million dollar Budget Deficient.
District officials tried for years to boost enrolment and keep area school alive but, Montopolis area activist Dr. Fred McGee said the gentrification of the Austin area was just too much.
McGee said gentrification forced families out, leaving schools with less kids and there fore less tax dollars helping out.
