Former councilman reacts to prayer change proposal

A former Austin Councilmember reacts to a proposed change to council meeting invocations.
Mayor Steve Adler said on the Council Message Board this week he wants to see the opening moment be something other than a prayer, such as a poem or reflection or moment of silence. That prompted this reaction from Don Zimmerman, saying the religion of the council is that it believes government can solve all problems given enough tax money and power. Zimmerman once used language from a satanist temple on a city resolution and quips the city can’t tell the difference between satan worship and normal business.
