Harris, Bexar, Fort Bend and Nueces counties said they won’t prosecute small cases involving small amounts of suspected pot without a lab test. Anything more than .3 percent THC is considered marijuana.
Dr. Peter Stout, President of Houston Forensic Science Center said that’s going to be a problem, especially when it comes to vape oils, food products, pens and other are much more complex to test.
Stout said Texas crime labs lack equipment, validated testing methods and accreditation, he adds each testing unit costs three to four hundred thousand dollars.
