The Texas Department of Transportation will have a full closure of the southbound US 183 mainlanes and frontage road this weekend, in order to set large steel beams for a new southbound I-35 to southbound US 183 flyover, weather permitting.
Beginning Friday, August 2, at 9:00 p.m. until Monday, August 5 at 5:00 a.m., the southbound US 183 mainlanes and frontage road will be closed at I-35. As an alternate route, TxDOT is recommending that you use US 290 East to avoid the closure.
Mainlane detour:
- Southbound US 183 traffic will exit at via the southbound I-35 flyover, then take the US 290 East flyover and exit at US 183 to access southbound US 183
Frontage road detours:
- Southbound US 183 frontage road traffic will turn right at the southbound I-35 frontage road and take US 290 East to the exit for US 183
- Southbound US 183 traffic planning to go northbound on I-35 will turn right on the southbound I-35 frontage road and take the turnaround at US 290 East to access the northbound I-35 entrance ramp, south of St. Johns Avenue.
Plan ahead because major delays are expected.
