Apartment rent in Austin is high and only getting higher. You probably paid rent over the weekend, and if you live downtown in the 78701 zip code you paid the highest rent in the state, averaging 2,658 dollars. Rent Cafe’s Doug Ressler says downtown isn’t the only place where rent is high and climbing. Rent in the downtown area has gone up around four percent in the last year.
