The Austin area is projected to see high wind gusts on Thursday afternoon that could last late into the night, and reach speeds of as much as 50 miles per hour. In anticipation of that high wind, the Hays Consolidated Independent School District will end after school activities early.
“We anticipate the worst of the inclement weather to hit our area around 7:00 p.m., tonight,” said district spokesman Tim Savoy. “As a precaution, we are ending all afterschool activities tonight by 6:30 p.m., to allow people to get home and out of the way of the weather. Some activities may be canceled entirely. Please check with your campus or activity sponsor if you have an event that is on the calendar tonight.”
