Hays County car chase ends in officer involved shooting

One man is sent to the hospital and later charged after a car chase turned into an officer involved shooting.

The Hays County Sheriff’s office reports Deputies saw a vehicle driving recklessly as it headed North on I-35 Monday night and tried to pulled the driver over. However this turned into a car chase instead.

Officials say Hays County Deputies along with the Buda Police Department stopped the vehicle on South Loop 4 near Interstate Drive just South of the Buda City Limits. the driver, Richard Pollock, 43, displayed a handgun and Deputies shot him.

Pollock was taken to an area hospital and later released and then taken to the Hays County Jail.

He faces Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, a Second Degree Felony, Evading Arrest or Detention with a Motor Vehicle, a Third Degree Felony, and Unlawfully Carrying a Weapon, a Class A Misdemeanor. Bonds for the three charges total $115,000.00
