A former Church Deacon in Hays County is facing indecency with a child by contact charges in Austin.
APD Detective Eric Guevara said they reopened a 2012 child assault case after another now-adult survivor came forward about Charles Sweet now 85.
Guevara said Sweets victims were girls with ages that ranged between 6-12 years old. He said Sweet may have victimized others during the early 90s and 2000s, the same time he was working with a church adding Sweet also worked with youth ministry outside the church.
APD and Hays County Sheriff’s office investigators worked together on the case. Det. Guevara said once they had interviewed Sweet and produced more names of possible survivors. Church Officials claim as a many as 6 were victimized but Guevara refused to comment.
APD officials say they have yet to take Sweet into custody.
