4. CHODY GROWS ANGRY WITH AUSTIN’S HOMELESS POLICIES

Williamson County Sheriff Robert Chody sends a stern message to Austin Mayor Steve Adler after finding a homeless man sleeping in a tent in Avery Ranch….He says the man is not only a veteran, but also very frustrated with the City of Austin’s current homeless policy:

“Let me just show you what you did, Mayor Adler.  Tom is homeless and he’s in my neighborhood, and I know people in our neighborhood don’t appreciate seeing this when we pay taxes,” he says.

Chody says the man told him that he came to Williamson County because Austin does not offer enough services, nor does he feel safe in the city.

5. ENROLLMENT TREND SHOWING SIGNS OF REVERSAL IN AISD 

The Austin school district may be reversing its long-running trend of enrollment decline…According to the Statesman, following six consecutive years of declines, AISD has added roughly 700 more students to the rolls this year.  The school board had been fully prepared for a projected loss of 1600 kids, which was a factor into this year’s $1.6-billion budget.
