Travis County Judge Sarah Eckhardt is playing damage control following a comment she made regarding Governor Greg Abbott….
At the Texas Tribune Festival, Eckhardt said Abbott “hates trees become one fell on him.” Abbott was paralyzed in 1984 after a tree fell on him while jogging. Eckhardt has since taken full responsibility, issuing an apology to governor and calling her comment “inappropriate” and that it “did nothing to further political discourse.”

4. CHRONIC DISEASES SPIKING IN TRAVIS COUNTY
The taxpayer funded clinics providing medical care to low income and homeless people in Travis County is seeing a significant increase in serious medical issues. 27-percent of the patients have HIV. 36-percent are diabetic. The Austin Monitor reports 98,000 patients now get medical care at the 24 clinics. The overall number of patients is also rapidly increasing.

Austin police issue a warning about potentially lethal drugs that are being sold on the streets of Austin… APD says three people over the weekend were taken to Dell Medical Center after overdosing on the drug Ecstasy. One person died. While the drug is already considered to be dangerous, APD says it is worried this batch is particularly lethal.
