Four teenagers have been arrested in connection with multiple burglaries of motor vehicles in the Kyle and Austin areas.

At approximately 1:50 a.m. on Monday, January 27th, 2025, the Kyle Police Department was notified by the Austin Police Department that a stolen vehicle was being tracked by its owner to a gas station in Kyle. Officers quickly located the vehicle. When they arrived, the driver attempted to flee, but soon lost control of the vehicle and came to a stop.

Upon further investigation, officers identified the driver as a 14-year-old male, with three other teens in the vehicle including two 15-year-old females and 17-year-old Edwin Serna of Kyle.

All four teens were safely detained. The juvenile driver faces charges of burglary of a motor vehicle, evading arrest in a vehicle, unauthorized use of motor vehicle, and engaging in organized criminal activity. Serna is also charged with engaging in organized criminal activity and has pending warrants for additional vehicle burglaries.

“We take these incidents very seriously, especially when underaged and inexperienced drivers are involved. Their actions not only put other people’s property at risk but also endanger the safety of everyone on the road. Our officers responded quickly to ensure the suspects were apprehended safely and without further incident,” said Kyle Police Chief, Jeff Barnett. “We encourage our residents to remain vigilant by removing valuables from their vehicles and locking their doors to help prevent these types of crimes in our community.”
