The Lakeway City Council has unanimously voted in favor of changes to city code regarding code enforcement officers. The changes are in response to complaints last year of code officers entering homes unannounced and then handing out violations to homeowners.
The council has amended the code to now require that all officers seeking to enter a home must first be given permission, or be in possession of a warrant. Along with that, code officers will be required to seek entrance at reasonable times of the day, and all credentials must be produced beforehand.
