More work needs to be done to overhaul of the state’s broken foster care system. Department of Family and Protective Services Commissioner Hank Whitman told lawmakers today the next round of changes will be dictated by a federal appeals court in New Orleans, but until their decision, he’s focused on infrastructure.
Last session the Foster care redesign included more money for case workers and establishing a decentralized community-based system.
