The City of Leander has tweaked its animal control ordinance, including including a provision that makes microchipping mandatory for all dogs and cats. Animal Control Supervisor Edna Ellis said the microchip will act as a form of registration with the city itself.
The new ordinance also prohibits for-profit breeding or selling of animals in any residential area, and also prohibits people from paying for boarding services at any location without a commercial animal enterprise permit.
