The Leander school district has decided to install air conditioning on its buses following numerous complaints from parents about hot, sweaty, red-faced kids. The district’s plan is now to retrofit the existing fleet of buses, as well as to phase in new buses over the coming years.
16 buses will be upgraded first using bond approved by voters last year.
60 buses will be retrofitted by May of next year, and 50 new buses with A/C already installed will be brought in by summer of next year.
