A new bicycle master plan has been approved in Georgetown. Mayor Dale Ross said it took a very unfortunate situation in January of 2017 to really spur along this new master plan, “There was a young man, his name’s Tommy Ketterhagen, he went to Eastview High School, and tragically lost his life while bicycling.”

The council has dedicated the plan to Ketterhagen’s memory. His dad, Thomas, called it’s a great honor, “Tommy loved Georgetown. He traveled the whole United states, the mountains, the Great Lakes, the West Coast… and he would tell everybody nothing is like Georgetown.”

On top of the nearly 36-miles of bike paths already in place, an additional 64-miles will be added complete with lane striping and safety improvements.  The hot spots will include Main Street, 8th Street, bridges over the San Gabriel River.  In all, the bike plan may cost up to $16-million.
