Austin Police records say 44-year-old David Garcia-Gonzales appeared to have difficulty walking as seen on surveillance video approaching the Southeast Austin fast food establishment on Burleson Road. He loitered about the restaurant and then grabbed a pair of tongs. He then approached a female cashier who had a cash drawer open and began poking her with the tongs, repeatedly demanding money.
Garcia-Gonzales was ushered out of the Whataburger by another employee. Police soon caught up to the would-be robber at a nearby car wash and was arrested. Garcia-Gonzales faces felony robbery by threat charges.
