An Austin police officer opens fire on a man barricaded inside of a North Austin motel early this morning. Assistant Chief Troy Gay says APD was called at the request of the Round Rock Police Department, “to serve an active aggravated robbery warrant out of Williamson County.”

Gay says a woman was with the man and they believe she was being held against her will. Eventually the man tried to escape. Gay says an officer tried to use a tazer but it didn’t have much effect, and believing the man was armed the officer opened fire, striking the man was hit in the leg. No officer was hurt.
