Thirty years in prison for the mother who buried her dead son in a shallow grave in East Austin.
That’s the sentence handed down to Meagan Work for her role in the death of her two-year-old son Colton Turner in 2014. Judge David P. Wahlberg said key witness testimony painted a picture of “…a cranky child, a frustrated mother, an immature mother, and some discipline that went way wrong.”
Wahlberg said Work and her boyfriend Michael Turner, who’s already serving time for his role, conspired to obstruct justice and told lies. “Meagan Work told more lies, and persisted for a longer period of time in telling those lies.”
Work was sentenced 20 years for tampering with evidence and 30 years for wrongful death and will serve them concurrently with credit for time served.
