More criticism of Austin’s homeless policy

Homeless man on the street

Save Austin Now co-founder Matt Makowiak says Council needs to accept that their policies regarding homeless camping are a failure. He says all the city has done is propose opening a shelter in South Austin near three schools and double the budget for homelessness.

He says Austinites would be for spending more to help end homelessness if the proposed plan seemed like it could really work. Governor Greg Abbott has given the city until November 1 to make changes.
