Dozens of homes and businesses have been dealing with an ongoing evacuation in Georgetown around River Bend and Williams Drive due to an underground natural gas leak back in February. Since then, the leak has been fixed but gas remains trapped under the soil.
There may be some light at the end of the tunnel, however.
The number of total evacuations still in place has dropped to 65, including 24 businesses and 41 homes, according to Atmos Energy. On Monday, the company reported that roughly 30 new homes and businesses have been allowed to return.
At the height of the evacuation, 73 homes and 67 businesses were displaced.
Atmos still does not know when the remaining evacuations will be lifted.
