Move to end Confederate Heroes Day

Confederate Battle Flag

Lawmakers at the State Capitol are considering a bill that would end Confederate Heroes Day. It is a state holiday that is every January 19.

Bryan Register with the group De-Confederate Austin says we shouldn’t celebrate the losing side of a war. He says this move is needed to finally admit that slavery was the cause of the Civil War.

The bill was considered this week in a legislative hearing.
