The Social Security Administration is warning of another telephone scam involving an 888 number and a recording warning you that your social security number has been used in illegal activity. The Administration’s Sara Schultz Lackey says this is the latest of a growing number of scams.
She says don’t press any numbers that the recording tells you to press, just hang up and report the call to the Office of Inspector General.
