A variety of federal, state, and local government officials are gathering at Camp Mabry to hear about the latest in cybersecurity threats.
One of the most prevalent is the Ransomware attack. Texas Military Division Cyber Operations Chief Lt. Col Chris Winneck says the bad guys often target smaller local governments.
He says the best way to recover from such attacks is to have robust backups of the data in question. He says paying ransomware does not end a system’s vulnerability to other hacks or attacks.
