It’s not clear how thieves were able to get 112-year-old Richard Overton’s social security number and bank account number but his address was widely known. His cousin Volma Overton says someone drained his bank account and purchased savings bonds from the treasury department.
She says his bank is working on tracking down the theft and that police have been notified. Overton’s GoFundMe account was not touched. She says his round-the-clock medical care costs about fifteen thousand dollars a month.
