Parmer Lane Fire Now 60 Percent Contained

A fire near FM 1431 and Parmer Lane continues to burn in Cedar Park.  On Wednesday, the City of Cedar Park provided the following information on the firefighting efforts:

  • Overnight, firefighters made significant efforts fighting the Parmer Lane Fire overnight:
    • There was no forward movement of wildfire area and crews continue to work towards containment of the approximately 50-acres. Currently, the fire is 60% contained.
    • Firefighters protected the Whitestone Landing Townhomes, which were threatened overnight by the wildfire.
    • An additional apartment building (Building 12) at the Bexley at Silverado Apartment Complex caught fire in the attic and crews worked quickly to put out that fire.
  • Firefighting operations will continue today to work towards ultimate containment of this fire. Multiple response units on scene from Cedar Park as well as other state and local agencies. This response also includes Aviation Resources from the Texas A&M Forest Service.
  • So far, no major injuries and only 2 minor injury currently reported.
  • The following structural damage is being reported at this time:
    • Apartment Building 10 is a total loss; and
    • Apartment Buildings 9, 11, and 12 are partially damaged.
    • Firefighters continue to monitor adjacent areas for spot fires as well as stop any forward progressing brushfires. Bulldozers from the Texas A&M Forest Services are creating a containment line around the perimeter.
  • Residents of Bexley at Silverado Apartment Complex as well as the Whitestone Landing Townhomes can access their units and homes, with the exception Apartment Building 10. PEC will be working to restore power to the buildings. Please note firefighting operations are ongoing, so only residents should come to the area.
  • Please continue to avoid the area and adjacent roadways, including E. Whitestone Boulevard and West Parmer Lane as well as surrounding roadways. The northbound outside lane of West Parmer lane continues to be closed from Ranch Trails to E. Whitestone Boulevard.
  • Red Cross is assisting those impacted or displaced by the fire.
