A petition making the rounds that aims to give Ausitnites a say on a expansion of the Austin Convention Center, gets the support of the Austin Independent Business Association. The group’s Rebecca Meloncon understands an expansion could be a benefit to local businesses through tourists but still has a question.
The Austin Independent Business Association’s Rebbeca Meloncon agrees with Austin’s Mayor that not every decision the council makes should see a public vote. Some local businesses are throwing their support behind the petition as well.
The petition has its critics, who say it would benefit Austin’s homelessness efforts and business climate.
