The City of Pflugerville invites food trucks and trailers to the Development Services Center offices at 201 B East Pecan on Monday, August 13 or 20 to obtain a free permit and health inspection between noon – 3 p.m. to participate in the Pfood Truck Pilot Program and to operate in the Pflugerville City Limits for the remainder of 2018.

“The main benefit of the program is that it simplifies and further defines, for both the City and the food truck and trailer vendors, the process for food trucks to operate in the city,” Planning Director Emily Barron said. “This pilot program which runs until the end of the year will provide us with feedback and needed information to return to City Council with more permanent recommendations.”

Food trucks and trailers that have operated in Pflugerville or at Pflugerville Pfestivals in the last year will receive email notification about the new process.

Pilot Program Highlights:

•             Vendors may operate at any existing commercially-zoned property, religious facility or HOA-owned property, when owner’s consent is obtained.

•             Operators shall have a valid Pflugerville food establishment permit and must be annually permitted through the City of Pflugerville and Fire Department.

•             Seating, shade, and venue space for other activities is encouraged provided they are not located in the fire lane, drive aisle, right of way, or occupying other parking spaces in a way that may cause conflicts with providing sufficient parking for the principal use, and are removed when the vendor vacates the area.

Food vendors are not permitted to sell in City of Pflugerville parks or at facilities outside of scheduled programs.

The pilot program will run through December 2018 and the city staff will discuss results and findings with City Council.

Prior to this pilot program, a food truck was permitted to operate for special events on specific days, so the new program streamlines the process and further clarifies where and when trucks can setup on a regular basis.
