The annual Republic of Texas biker rally has come and gone once again.  It’s an event that draws tens of thousand of people to Austin each year, many of whom are on two wheels.  With the increase in visitors almost always means an increase in crashes, and while that was the case in 2019, the numbers aren’t quite as high as in previous years.

According to the latest numbers from Austin-Travis County EMS, there were seven crashes over the weekend involving nine people.  However, none of those crashes were fatal.

Four of those crashes did leave people in serious condition.

In 2018, there were a toal of 18 crashes reported over the three-day festival.  In 2017, 14 crashes were reported, including seven people who were hospitalized and one person who died.
