The San Gabriel Wildfire in Williamson County is now at least 90% contained. Initial reports had said more than 500 acres had burned near Liberty Hill, but that total has since been revised to show a total of 451 acres. The Texas A&M Forest Service says the decrease in acres burned is due to better GPS mapping since Saturday when crews gave the original estimate.
No homes have burned and there have been no injuries.
A large number of resources have been devoted to helping fight this fire including state resources such as firefighting teams, air tankers, helicopters, planes, Starflight and local fire departments led by Liberty Hill Fire Department. A burn ban is currently in effect in Williamson County. The burn ban restricts outdoor burning and includes safety requirements for welding, cutting, or grinding operations. The burn ban can be viewed here.
The San Gabriel Fire is no longer spreading. Th Liberty Hill Fire Marshal is still investigating the cause.
