Thirty thousand Austinites signatures on petition were submitted to City Hall yesterday, calling for voters to weigh on whether or not the city should have an efficiency audit. Travis County Taxpayers Union founder and former Austin Councilmember Don Zimmerman says although the city does have an audit team but it is limited in its scope and it basically just kicks out little areas of abuse within the city government.
Zimmerman says he hopes candidates vying for open Council seats and the Mayor’s job will embrace the efficiency audit in their campaigns.
