Some tax professionals still not impressed with reform bills at the Capitol

As state lawmakers get to work on shoring up property tax reform, some tax professionals are not convinced any of the bills will offer meaningful property tax relief.

Williamson County Tax Assessor-Collector Larry Gaddes said he isn’t very optimistic Texans will see meaningful relief.

Gaddes said, by his numbers,  House Bill 3 will only reduce school taxes by 4-cents for an average $300,000 home, which he also thinks will be negated by a proposed 1-cent sales tax hike.

He also claims that the real Elephant in the room is Government overspending, which Gaddes feels is at the root of all of our tax concerns, and is not addressed in any of these bills.
