Texas Attorneys argued in court in favor of UT’s removal of Confederate Statues from campus. The Sons of Confederate Veterans filed suit against University President Greg Fenves. They believe the removal of Confederate Statues from the UT campus violated the rights of those who originally donated them to the University
The suit was filed in 2017 after three Confederate statues were removed from the UT Campus in response to the violent protests in Charlottesville Virginia. A Federal District court threw out the suit, but it was appealed to the 5th Circuit in New Orleans. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton spokesman Marc Rylander said that the district court correctly dismissed this case, the appeals court should affirm that.
