The Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization greenlights a platinum study of turning an old abandoned rail line in South Austin into an urban hike and bike trail. CAMPO is partnering with the City of Austin’s Public Works Department to study the idea.

Cap Metro also is in on the study, but they may decide to reclaim the six-mile long spur line for a high-capacity transit line. Spence says the $280-thousand-dollar study should be completed next year.
