As counties like Travis continue to say bars operating as restaurants are behind the latest spikes in COVID numbers, the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission will be considering the future of a bar’s ability to continue operating in that capacity.
Bentley Nettles is with the TABC and he says only small number of them across Texas have been cited for violations, “and those are typically the people that say ‘I don’t care, we’re not going to do that’ and my response is okay, this is a highly regulated industry, the legislature has made it so.”
Out of more than 26,000 inspections, Nettles says only 200 license holders are facing any kind of action from TABC.
CLARIFICATION: TABC Officials explain the 26,000 inspections they’ve conducted have been since June 26, not over the course of a single weekend.
