Travis County’s Appraisal Review Board could be skirting the law in denying the results of hundreds of property tax protests that favored property owners.
The ARB held protest hearing panels and determined that the results were ‘inconsistent’. Tax Attorney Lorri Michel disagrees and says they were quite consistent and the ARB was simply not prepared for hundreds of those cases.
Michele says the law lets ARB deny results but doesn’t think it’s intended to let them do that en masse.
