TC Commissioners meet to finalize the budget and tax rate for Central Health

Your increased tax dollars will go towards helping more low-income citizens’ health care, thanks to the new Central Health Budget that Travis County Commissioners are expected to approve today. CEO Mike Geeslin said they have the lowest tax burden of any major hospital district in the state and gives taxpayers more for their money.

Your taxes will likely go up about nearly five percent despite a lowered tax rate, due to increasing property values.

Thousands in the county could lose access to their health care if Sendero does not get sufficient funding, which is about $24 million dollars. Commissioners will reconsider the measure next week.
