The Austin Round Rock Metro grew more than 22,000 jobs from August 2018 through last month. The Austin Chamber of Commerce’s Beverley Kerr said that makes for a growth rate of 2.1%. Kerr also said those jobs come primarily from computer and electronic products. She sees growth in both the professional business services and wholesale trade also seeing major job growth because of tech businesses
That makes for almost one tenth of the new jobs and much of this growth can be attributed to the tech industry.
By the numbers, Kerr said, Austin ranks 15th in terms of the top 50 growing metros. Behind Houston and Dallas. But she thinks the local rate could be better. Believing a quarterly revision will show improvement.
