Texas Attorney General’s office is taking action to crack down on robo-calls

The Federal Trade Commission’s 2019 Robocall Crackdown is named Call it Quits and Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s office is working in cooperation with the Feds.

There’s been a significant increase in the number of illegal robocalls because of a term known as ‘Spoofing’, a cheap and simple way for scammers to call you anywhere in the world with a fake caller ID.

Paxton said the robocalls violate several state and federal telemarketing statutes including the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act.

The Federal Trade Commission suggests blocking the robocall number on your phone and then reporting them to the FTC website at FTC.gov/complaint.
