Texas House budgets $22-million for Film Incentives

Under the Texas House budget proposal, the state’s film incentive program is being allotted $22-million dollars.

While that is $10-million dollars less than what the program was allotted last session, those in the film industry are calling it a win for now. Mindy Raymond with the Texas Motion Pictures Alliance said more people are feeling good about this session as the incentive program was housed under the economic development fund.

She explained while under that fund there is a bit of variation of what the fund could actually see by the end of this legislative session. When Governor Greg Abbott made his request on the program he asked for $50-million.

Raymond said TXMPS and its members are looking at the $22-million as a beginning rather than something set in stone.
