House Bill 3, a $9-billion infusion into public education, is expected to sail through the House. AISD is still struggling to keep its head above water with a $30-million budget shortfall that Chief of Business Nicole Conley-Johnson says is only getting larger.
But if HB3 passes, things could change for AISD. That includes having to send almost $200-million less to the state for Robin Hood, meaning AISD keeps more. In turn, property taxes also could benefit.
In AISD, that looks to equate to about 5-cents less per $100 valuation on the average home.
