Texas Senate nears approval of two bills that could impact Austin ordinances

One is SB 2488, which would effectively strip Austin of its ability to ban a private employer from asking whether a new applicant has a criminal history.

To Senator Brandon Creighton, it’s just common sense that a business owner would get the final say here.

Creighton’s other bill, SB 2486, prevents Austin from mandating when and how private companies can schedule their employees.  Council member Greg Casar calls these bills “disgraceful.”
