Texas Senators to discuss state wide homeless camping ban

State lawmakers are discussing another bill today that could have big impacts in Austin. SB 987 would impose a statewide camping ban, as well as fines and penalties. Mayor Steve Adler says, just like Proposition B on Austin’s May ballot, this offers no help. He believes housing is the solution, but until then he supports people camping wherever they want.

The Senate Committee on Local Government will be debating the proposed bill among others starting around 12:30pm.
